The Kūlia Project is a scholarship database dedicated to connecting Pacific Islander high school and undergraduate students with educational funding opportunities. We recognize the unique challenges and rich cultural heritage of students from across Oceania. Our mission is to bridge the gap between talented Pacific Islander students and the financial resources they need to pursue higher education. We compile scholarships from various sources, including government programs, private foundations, and community organizations that specifically support Pacific Islander students, Native Hawaiian students or have a focus on promoting diversity in education.
By providing a centralized resource for scholarship information, we aim to:
・Increase access to higher education for Pacific Islander youth
・Promote academic excellence within our communities
・Preserve and celebrate Pacific Islander cultures through education
・Foster the next generation of leaders from our island nations
Aloha! My name is Jada Lee. As a Native Hawaiian student from Hawai'i, I recognized that the cost of education created a huge barrier for students. This project stemmed from my strong belief that there is a place for Pacific Islanders in higher education. However, I understand that many students may not be aware of the resources available to them or could feel discouraged because of the lack of Pacific Islander representation in higher education.
I wanted to create a resource, specifically for Pacific Islander students with the goal of empowering students to honor their Pacific Islander identity to create more opportunities for themselves. Many of the scholarships on this website, strive to promote diversity in higher education and reaffirm the value of PI students in university.
Through this project, I hope to play a part in fostering a more inclusive and diverse landscape in higher education, where Pacific Islander students can thrive, contribute their unique perspectives, and pave the way for future generations.
We hope to grow the community of PI students in higher education. Together we can make educational opportunities more accessible.
